Printers deserve some attention when you start up: connected properly, they print every ticket flawlessly, and if something goes wrong, you can see straight away on the POS where the problem is.
What to watch out for#
Unipos PLUS prints only via the network: USB connections do not work.
The POS or iPad and the printers must be on the same network. Connect printers with a LAN cable, preferably directly to your provider's modem.
Compatible printers (always with a network connection): Epson TM-M30, Star TSP100, mC-Print3 and mC-Print2.
Configuring printers#
The printer configuration of the POS is much more extensive than that of the webshop, and it lives in your POS configuration: go to POS configuration on the management page and open the Blueprint of your configuration. There you manage three layers:
Printers: add printers with their IP address, edit or duplicate them, and link them to the configuration.
Templates: create a template for each receipt type and link it to a printer. This way, the bar printer prints a different receipt from the kitchen printer. When you create a template, you choose a Mode: Efficient (default, prints faster, fewer settings) or Advanced (every part of the receipt can be set separately).
Product visibility: decide for each printer which products and categories are printed, for example only the drinks to the bar and only the dishes to the kitchen.
Following up on print jobs#
At the top of the home screen, you find the overview of the print jobs. The button turns red as soon as a job has not been carried out. A blocked receipt (out of paper, printer off) waits until the printer is active again: delete the blocked job or print it again, otherwise the rest of the queue will not start moving.
Is nothing printing any more?#
On the POS, open the cogwheel and go to Health: there you test each printer with a single tap (Test print), scan the network to find printers and their IP address again, and update a changed IP straight away. Also run through the basics: is the printer on, is there paper in it, and is everything on the same network?
