Communicating with your customer

On the Emails tab under Settings (Instellingen), Orders (Bestellingen), you decide who receives which emails:

  • Enable confirmation emails for the consumer: your customer receives an email every time an order is placed.

  • Enable communication for the consumer: your customer receives an email when the status of the order changes.

  • Enable confirmation emails for you: you receive an email for each order, by default at your orders address or at an alternative email address that you set here.

  • Email notification for new reviews: get an email when a customer posts a review, optionally only from a certain star threshold, for example only for 3 stars or fewer.

Communication history per order#

Does your customer say they didn't get a confirmation email or status update? You don't need to guess: Unipage logs every automatic message the webshop sends for each order, both emails and SMS messages.

This is how you check the history:

  1. In the management page, go to Orders.

  2. Open the order.

  3. Scroll to the Message activity (Berichtactiviteit) block at the bottom of the detail view.

The Message activity block shows every sent message with its status and time.
The Message activity block shows every sent message with its status and time.

For each message, you see the type (Email or SMS), the recipient, which message it is (for example Order placed, Started on the order or Review request), the status and the exact time:

  • Sent or Delivered: the message left successfully.

  • Failed or Bounced: the message didn't reach the recipient.

Click the eye icon to open the message details. For a failed message, you see the exact error message there. For an SMS, you also see the content of the message.

Tip

Is a message marked as Sent but your customer couldn't find anything? Ask your customer to check the spam or promotions folder too, and check that the email address on the order is correct. We only send SMS updates when your customer entered a mobile number and SMS is activated for your business.

Good to know

This overview is also everything Unipage can see: our support team can't look deeper than these statuses. Once a message is marked as Sent or Delivered, the rest of the delivery is up to the recipient's email provider or telecom operator. Whether it then ended up in the inbox or the spam folder is something we can't see either.

Don't see the Message activity block on an order? Then no message was sent for that order. In that case, check whether the emails above are enabled.
