Health: troubleshooting

Is something not running smoothly on the POS? The built-in Health page checks your whole setup and fixes the most common problems on the spot. On the POS, open the cogwheel and choose Health.

Automatic checks#

The page runs the checks as soon as you open it, and you can run them again with Run all checks. For each part, you can see whether everything is fine:

  • Templates: are the receipt templates configured?

  • Network: is there a connection?

  • FDM: is the fiscal module reachable (with a GKS)?

  • Receipt sync: are there still receipts in the queue that failed to sync?

At the bottom, you can always see when the checks last ran.

Testing and finding printers#

The Printers section lists every configured printer with its own Test print button. Printers with a cash drawer also get an Open drawer button. This way, you know within seconds which printer is letting you down.

Can't find a printer, for example because its IP address changed? Use Scan network for printers or Discover Epson printers: enter the first three octets of your subnet (for example 192.168.1) and the POS finds the printers with their MAC address. You can update the changed IP address straight from the scan.

Checking the payment terminal#

If you work with a linked CCV terminal, Check terminal tests the connection:

  • Reachable and in service: everything is fine.

  • Reachable but not done: close the menu on the terminal itself.

  • Unreachable or no IP set: check the IP address in the payment method settings.

Testing the barcode scanner#

If the POS doesn't scan a customer card, a loyalty code or a product, the scanner test points straight to the cause. On the POS, open the cogwheel, choose Health and then Scanner. The page shows a test code as a barcode and as a QR code. Scan either one. The POS compares what your scanner sends with the expected value on the screen and tells you exactly what goes wrong.

The scanner test in Health: scan the barcode or the QR code and the POS compares the result with the expected value.
The scanner test in Health: scan the barcode or the QR code and the POS compares the result with the expected value.

Possible results:

  • Scan matches: your scanner works as it should.

  • No Enter received: set your scanner to send an Enter (carriage return) after every scan. Without Enter, the code does appear on the screen, but it is never confirmed.

  • Extra character at the start or end: your scanner sends an extra character along, often a Tab, a tilde or a function key. Turn that prefix or suffix off in the scanner's configuration.

  • Same letters, wrong capitals: Caps Lock is on, or the device's keyboard layout doesn't match what the scanner sends. Turn Caps Lock off and test again.

  • Truncated scan: the scanner sends faster than the device can process, usually a Bluetooth timing problem or a window that takes the focus away in between.

  • No input: the scanner is not paired (Bluetooth) or another input field had the focus and swallowed the scan.

With Generate new code, you request a new test code. The page listens for keystrokes everywhere, so you don't need to select a field. If nothing comes in, another window has the focus or the scanner is not paired.

Recovery actions#

  • Force full re-sync: fetch all data again when the POS no longer seems to be in sync with the management page.

  • Database maintenance: the POS maintains its local database to keep everything fast.

Tip

For any printer or terminal problem, Health is your first stop: the checks point you straight to the right cause, with no guesswork.
