Newsletters and automations

Reach customers who gave their consent with one-off newsletters and automatic e-mails via automations. You can find both under the Marketing tab on the management page.

What you can do everywhere#

  • Personalise your e-mails in the editor: use :firstname for the customer's first name and :business for your business name, and feel free to drag images into the message.

  • Track the performance of each mailing: sent, opened, clicked and the number of orders that resulted from it.

  • Everything is GDPR-proof: customers sign up after an order or via their account, and every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link.

This is how the webshop asks for that consent: on the confirmation page, right after an order. If the customer chooses No, thanks, they won't be asked again. If they choose Yes, please and your birthday mail is switched on, the webshop also asks for their date of birth straight away.

Placeholders#

You can use placeholders in the subject and the message of every newsletter and automation. Unipage replaces them for each customer at the moment of sending:

  • :firstname: the customer's first name. If Unipage doesn't know a first name, it uses "customer" instead.

  • :business: the name of your business.

  • :points: the customer's current points balance. Only for the loyalty points reminder.

A capital letter or a space after the colon is fine: ": Firstname" works too. If you include a discount code, you don't need to add a placeholder for it. The personal code, the discount and the expiry date are added automatically below your message.

One-off newsletters#

For announcements and promotions. You can send a maximum of one newsletter per week: straight away, as a draft to finish later, or scheduled for a day and time of your choice. Include a unique coupon code with a single slider.

Automations#

For each automation, switch on the toggle and click Save:

  • Welcome mail: thank new customers a number of days after their first order, with a discount percentage and a validity period of your choice.

  • Birthday mail: a greeting on the birthday itself. The date of birth is requested after an order as soon as this automation is active.

  • Customer anniversary: celebrate the day the customer first ordered from you, with an adjustable time and a discount as a fixed amount or a percentage.

  • Loyalty points reminder: only appears when Loyalty is active. As soon as a customer's points balance is enough for your cheapest reward, they receive a mail reminding them of it. With Remind at most every (days) (default 90) you decide how often this can happen at most. Use :points in your text for the current points balance. By default, no discount code is included: the reward itself is the gift.

  • Reactivation mail: win back customers who haven't ordered anything for a while. With Inactive after (days) (default 60, minimum 7) you set how long ago the last order must be. A maximum of one mail is sent per inactive period: if the customer orders again and then stays away for a while again, the mail can be sent once more.

  • Win-back (long inactive): the second reactivation phase, for customers who haven't ordered anything for a very long time. With Inactive after (days) (default 150, minimum 30), choose a clearly longer period than for your reactivation mail, and include a stronger offer. Again, a maximum of one mail per inactive period.

Every automation has the same settings:

  • Sending time: the hour at which that day's mails go out, 09:00 by default.

  • Subject and Message: if you leave them empty, Unipage uses a default text for each automation. Clearing the message restores that default text.

  • Include discount code: choose Percentage or Fixed amount, the discount and the Validity (days). Each customer gets a personal code that can be used once. These codes are not among your coupons.

At the top, you see for each automation how many subscribed customers currently qualify for it. Under Recent sent you see who received the latest mails, and whether they opened, clicked and ordered.
