A self-order kiosk solves two problems at once: less staff needed at the counter and shorter queues for customers. Le Glacier De La Poste in Knokke proved this in the summer of 2026 with 8 Unipage self-order kiosks. Unipage installed the kiosks, connected them to a queue number and zone system, and activated the hourly report so the owner knows every day when peak hours hit and which products sell best.
Le Glacier De La Poste is a fixture in Knokke. During the busy summer season, customers pour in non-stop: at peak times, around 16:00, more than 150 tickets are issued per quarter hour. With a few staff members at the counter, this quickly became unmanageable: long queues, stressed employees and impatient customers walking away.
The owner was looking for a way to handle more orders without increasing staff. The answer was the self-order kiosk: customers order themselves, and staff can focus entirely on preparation and service.
Unipage installed 8 self-order kiosks throughout the venue. Customers place their own order, select their products and pay at the kiosk. After payment they receive a ticket with a queue number.
What makes the system particularly smart is the division into three zones: A, B and C. The venue is physically divided into three zones and the ticket clearly shows in which zone the customer can collect their order. On the central status screen, customers can see when their number is ready. No more queuing at the counter.
The result: no chaos at the service desk, no arguments about who was first, and a smoother flow for everyone.
Almost half of the revenue comes from the ice cream category. Cold drinks account for about a third and pastries for 10%. Top product: a single scoop of ice cream.
Alongside the kiosks, Unipage activated the hourly report in Unipos PLUS. The system calculates per quarter hour how many of each product was sold, broken down by category and by product.
The owner can see at a glance what time sales peak, which categories generate the most revenue, and how products perform per time slot. This information is directly useful for staff scheduling: if it starts to get busy every day at 15:30, you make sure your team is ready on time.
New in Unipos PLUS version 2.1.4: a scheduled order can be sent to the kitchen at a chosen time. Handy for orders that need to be prepared or served later.
Le Glacier De La Poste is not the only one to have made the switch. More and more Belgian hospitality businesses are choosing self-order kiosks to reduce workload and improve the customer experience, e.g. our customer Tjop's Low & Slow BBQ. Unipage supplies and installs the kiosks, connects them to your existing POS system and provides ongoing support.
