What's on the menu for the year?

In 2022, we can once again enjoy delicious dishes such as moringa, yuzu, vegan comfort food, gochujang, natural lemon water, canned cocktails, order robots, and upscale dining. Let's indulge!

Forget about cauliflower pizza crusts and celery juice (thank god)! In 2022, we can once again unabashedly savor fast food and dine in a three-star restaurant. So, what will be on your plate? Yuzu, moringa, or gochujang.

The miracle tree moringa

True foodies are already familiar with the moringa tree, a "miracle tree" that has been used for centuries in Africa and Asia as a remedy for malnutrition. Its leaves are incredibly nutritious and much more affordable than the famous matcha powder. This green goodness blends perfectly into smoothies, dressings, granola, ice cream, and even baked goods.

Yuzu-what?

Michelin-star chefs have long been fans of the refreshing taste of yuzu. It's an Asian citrus fruit that was previously mainly found in Japanese cuisine. But that's a thing of the past, as yuzu can now be found everywhere. Even in vinaigrettes, soft drinks, seltzer (flavored alcoholic sparkling water), and supermarket pastries.

Plant-based goodness

Vegan is hotter than ever, and you can take that literally. Forget about carrots, tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce because even comfort food is going vegan. Dr. Oetker has already introduced vegan frozen pizzas to the market, and you can find vegan bitterballen, sauces, and burgers in the snack bar. This goes to show that it doesn't have to be both plant-based and healthy and complicated...

Spicy but pleasant

Spice things up with gochujang, a Korean paste that deserves a place alongside chili flakes, sriracha sauce, and sambal. It's made from chili, sticky rice, and fermented soybeans. Spicy, yet slightly sweet and wonderfully savory.

Lemon water 2.0

Water with a hint of lemon, strawberry, mint, or ginger. You see them everywhere, but let's be honest: they're not (yet) really tasty. However, that's about to change because natural versions are coming. No more detergent taste, just a fresh, natural citrus touch.

Canned cocktails

Make room in the fridge for... canned cocktails and wine! A remnant of the lockdowns when aperitifs suddenly became e-peritifs, and we had to virtually toast with a can of mojito or a small bottle of wine.

Order robots

Whether you like it or not, digital ordering remains trendy! The pandemic has permanently changed the menu in many restaurants. From now on, orders must be placed on large screens or in the app. Not quite up to speed yet? Unipage is here to help. Send us a message, and you can expect a reply within 24 hours.

Fine dining

In 2021, all inhibitions were let loose! Hot dogs were enjoyed with a glass of champagne, and fried chicken was topped with a scoop of caviar. But that's over now because restaurant dining is back in the spotlight. Get out your white tablecloths and red candles because luxury is truly luxurious once again. Not just on weekends, by the way, as fine dining is now an option anytime, just like indulging in fast food. Perhaps less fancy but equally delicious!
