# Modifiers, options and supplements

Options let you give customers choices for an article. unTill makes this distinction:

- **Modifier (condiment)**: a free addition, such as 'no ice', 'with soy milk' or 'gluten-free'.
- **Supplement**: a paid addition, such as a salad with bread or an extra portion of chips.
- **Required option**: a question that always appears when you ring up the article, for example the choice of bread for a sandwich.

Follow these steps:

1. Log in and go to **Restaurant, Article, Options**.
2. Press **New** and enter the name of the option, for example 'Cold drinks'.
3. Press **New** to add the first sales zone, then press **Duplicate** for the other sales zones.
4. Add the articles to the option: click **New** and then the three dots.
5. Search in the department **Condiment/teksten/Supplementen**. If the article already exists, look it up with **Find** and add it. If it doesn't exist yet, copy an existing article and give it the right name.
6. Repeat this until all the articles are in the option.
7. Link the option to the right department: open the department (for example Cold drinks) and add the option under **Condiment** or **Supplement**, using the button with the three dots.

On the POS, you find the linked options in the order screen behind the **Variant** and **Supplement** buttons. Ring up an article, press the button and make your choice, including 'for', 'with', 'without', 'a lot' or 'a little'. Confirm to continue ordering.

## Setting a price on a supplement

Do you want to make a supplement chargeable? In the option, double-click the article, double-click **normaal** and enter the price.

Follow these steps:

1. Log in and go to **Restaurant, Article, Options**.
2. Select the option you want to edit and press **Edit**.
3. Press **Duplicate**, click the three dots, copy an existing article and give it the right name. Repeat this where needed.
4. Log in on the POS, open a table and ring up an article to check the result.

Follow these steps:

1. Log in to the back office and go to **Restaurant, Article, Options**.
2. Click **New** and enter the name of the option, for example 'Bread question'.
3. Press **Duplicate** to add all the sales zones.
4. Add the articles: click **New**, then the three dots, and copy an existing article from the department **Condiment/teksten/Supplementen**. Give it the right name. For some options, a surcharge can also be applied.
5. Repeat this until all the choices have been added to the option.
6. Go to **Items**, select the department and the article you want to link the option to.
7. Go to the **Options** tab, press **New**, click the three dots, select the option and press **OK**.
8. Log in on the POS, open a table and ring up the article: the question appears straight away, and any surcharge is added to the total at the top.
